Dirigida por Derek yee, cuenta con un trío de estrellas de primer orden, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai como el mago del título, Lau Ching-Wan y Zhou Xun. La trama, basada en Eisenheim el ilusionista de Steven Milhouser, traslada la acción de Austria a China y gira sobre un mago que intenta cortejar a su ex-amante (Zhou Xun), ahora comprometida con un general (Lau Ching-Wan)
